An extremely enjoyable day on the 300. Many thanks Ron and helpers.

A big thanks also to Dave and Stephen for the company on the way round and for keeping the pace up. Quicker than my normal Audax lazy speed and all the better for it.

Re saddle sores - it does get easier if you do enough long distances/ hours (honestly) - good luck on the 12hr.

Great day out indeed though I didn't get to ride (did the 300 solo last week). Sharing control duties with Pat Cherry at Hythe, it was good to se so many riders out and especially the abundance of Fairies.

Had a great day out with everyone in the 150K. Especially enjoyed the 5 minutes of madness our group had on the run in to Hamstreet! Thank you Ron and others for organising this.

Looking at the Audax calendar the flattest remaining 300 is probably the Mildenhall Rally http://www.aukweb.net/cal/calsolo.php?Ride=09-361 on 29/08/2009. All the other 300s seem hillier. Not that I've done it before but it must be flatter than rides in the Cotswolds, Wales, or the Scottish Borders!

I haven't ridden this either but David and I are riding it on 11th July and no doubt will be doing it again later in the year as well. If you fancy coming along just let me know.

I've received this e-mail and photo from Stephen Ely. The 150k was his first audax.

I was very impressed with the organisation and welcome. I appreciated being able do doss down on the stage and was welcomed with a bit of breakfast in the morning even though it was really for the 300 guys.

The control points were enthusiastically manned and the food was great (homemade cake). I was made very welcome by the group I rode with and enjoyed every minute of the ride

just got my medal in post today, SILVER! very happy with that! thanks again ron for all your efforts, hope to do more in the future.

Ben, glad to know that you like the medal. Unlike Sportives there is only one audax medal for each distance and the colour is down to whoever designed it.

The personal bit is the brevet card which shows your time. Hope you collect a few more - looking at it in a few years time will bring back memories.
