reliablity trial

Postby david law on Mon Oct 26, 2009 1:00 pm

had a really enjoyable experience in the 8.35 group yesterday
perfect weather and good company
apparently you must shout out ROAD KILL when seeing a dead rabbit or other squashed animal!
shame about all the punctures
most amusing being passed by an old boy on an old trike at least 4 times
still my £35 pound bike did well against the carbon brigade.
Martyn complained the weather wasn't bad enough for a reliability trial.
i cant say i miss being miserably cold and wet though.
thanks to pat for the hot tea, toast and marmalade and funny story.

Actually Dave the majority of the group on countback were on 'winter' aluminium bikes.

I was on my steel winter bike. It wasn't £35 though!

Don't be fooled by the bikes that I got
I'm still, I'm still Johnny from the block
Used to have a steel bike, now I have the lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from (Senacre Shop!)

How's your head this morning J-Bo? A post like that at 5 to 1 in the morning suggests drink may have been taken.

Are you suggesting that building a shrine to Jennifer Lopez in the garden shed is not normal? I've told the wife that I go in there to maintain my bikes. See how I brought it back to cycling, wot with this being a cycling club forum an' all.

THE HILL

with trepidation and fear
i changed down to bottom gear
the hill rose steeper and steeper
my bike couldn't be much cheaper
gravity played it's prank
i could hardly turn the crank
i know I'd feel more radiant
if i could beat this gradient
my bike was now two-tyred
but i continued to try ard
i could hardly take the strain
i might just break this chain
i really know i can
as I'm from San Fairy Ann

Dave, no need to feel down,
get on your bike and ride into town.
Pop into Nick and tell him your trouble,
he'll give you 5% off, possibly double.
(He's a kindly chap you won't need to grovel,
you can dump your old bike somewhere on Tovil).

Go back to that hill, taking it steady
then stomp on the pedals - low gear at the ready.
You'll fly up that hill but then die at the tip
and then wonder why you dumped that bike at the skip!

Lying suppine, heart thrusting through chest
Blood, sweat and tears on your San Fairy Ann Vest
You'll ponder if you didn't choose the right gear
Oh sod it - go and have a cool beer!

THE MADNESS OF KING DAVE

There's a chap at the bike club I've met
Who knows how to work up a sweat
He rides round all year
On a single fixed gear
He's nine sprockets short of a cassette!!
