Who's interested in a non-race around the cycloX venue?

Who's interested in a non-race around the cycloX venue?

Postby Rob T on Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:32 pm

Continuing on from the other thread about the club cyclocross race;
a) Would there be much interest in a club non-race* one Sunday?
b) Insurance - if it's required, what's the best way of including this?

Basically, I've got a nicely flattened track and I can't see a reason not to open it up for some training sessions for club members.

*Imagine an off road version of what happened at Detling.

Sound like a good idea as there's nowhere, local to me anyway, to train off road. I'm interested.

Good Idea Rob

We could possibly run a Junior Mountain Bike Skills course as well ??

For our up and comming Juniors
I personally recommend the use of an approved cycle helmet when riding ones bike

yes and me.

But after having such a warm and dry start to the cross season this year, its made me think how good it would be to run club events at the farm through the spring and summer.

Hi All be very careful re suggestion of instruction in riding techniques unless the instructor holds a Recognised Coaching Qualification and Insurance. In these days of Litigation in almost any case of accidental injury, if you are not Insured to Coach dont take a chance and act as Coach.

Just training round the course used for the CX is fine. There is no problem with a fast group training session.

Thanks for the info Geoff.

I'm just wondering, but what qualifies as coaching? If I were to yell "just ride it you sissy" or "stop falling off", would that count as coaching?

As I said, giving instruction which If it goes wrong could be 'Your Fault' ,you told me what to do, then don't do it unless you are rich. Encouragement as indicated in your comment is fine.

Picking up on this point the club is anxious to have some qualified coaches in our membership.

If anyone is interested in becoming a coach the club is willing to help with the cost of the necessary courses (obviously on the understanding that the knowledge gained will be used to help other club members).
