As Roly does not have a computer I have great pleasure in telling all you young Fairy Racers that he won 3 Gold Medals & a Silver at these Championships this weekend in his Age Group of 70+.

He was 1st in the Sprint, 2000m Pursuit & 500m Time Trial. He was narrowly beaten for Gold by our old friend Brian Dacey De Laune CC in the Points Race. Roly is remarkable in that after a lifetime of racing for us he is still able to win medals at his age.

I hear that the Champs were organised By Anthony Bristow's father Graham, a well known pacer on the Derny bikes & he paced Anthony in 2 gruelling 80 lap events. Read more in the July Milestone (or not as the case may be). Well done to both anyway.

I was about to say congrats, but then realised that he'd never read it due to the lack of a computer!

How do you think this club got on before the advent of computers when our many Champions won honours or, come to that, when we did the work necessary to keep it going? We used a thing called a TELEPHONE & a typewriter!!! If you want to congratulate Roly his phone number is 01622 843155. I am sure he would appreciate it.

Though he might not appreciate his phone number being put on the world wide web of course! Let's hope the congrats come just from people who know him!

Still Pat, you're right, great achievements!
