Perfect roads

Perfect roads

Postby Rob T on Sun Apr 19, 2009 5:14 pm

A place where we can celebrate those roads that are flawless and that can be ridden without risk of disappearing into potholes!

I'll start with:
Charring to Chillham - 8.3 miles all recently resurfaced. Somewhat hilly, but smooth as the proverbial.

Yeah, that's smooth as ice now 8) I like muchly the smoothness.

Also, the resurfacing from Headcorn out towards Staplehurst is one of the biggest improvements around in my book - that road used to sh...

Barn Hill is now beautifuuly smooth all the way. Pity they didn't also ease the gradient - it still hurts riding home after thge clubrun. (and please don't suggest Hunton - the only use for that ***** is to provide an early sort out for the Sportive riders  )

Sorry Rob, but you may have to use more detailed explanations for non-locals like me  I wasn't aware there was a hill between Headcorn and Staplehurst :?

You only really notice it on the way down as you suddenly realise that you're doing 25mph and you've got to do a 90deg turn on some very nasty holes!

Now that's true enough!

What I find irritating is how, unfotunately, they rather abruptly stopped the resurfacing just before the very most potholed and rutted section of that road (coming up to the junction through the wooded section) which is very cunning of them.

Also a small but sweet section of road from Langley towards Leeds Castle has been resurfaced. Only really good for me though, as it's where I cycle to the club run every weekend! But you're all welcome to come and try it out at a miniscule £5 charge, payable by cheque to my good self 8)

Just to let you know, they've patched up the bit under the trees now.
