London League Team Championships 15th FEB

London League Team Championships 15th FEB

Postby SarahSutton on Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:23 pm

Just in case you didn't read the e-mail Ron sent out and have deleted it.

The London cyclo cross league is drawing to an end but not before we have our annual team champs. last year we had three teams racing, maybe you remember seeing the photo of us all lined up. the largest number of club members at a cross race. We enjoyed a good day of hard racing and I remember lots of you saying that we could count on your support again this year. Phil Webb and Lee Sayers liked it so much that they continued to race this season.
This year the race is on the 15th of February at Wilmington grammar school DA2 7DA. We line up at 1 o'clock but I would suggest that you arrive at 12.00 at the very latest to warm up and learn the course.
if you are interested in joining us, please reply to jamessmith74@live.co.uk with your BC race number DOB and address. and remember mountain bikes are welcome but a sense of humour and a good breakfast is recommended.

From James Smith
Happy new year.

team champs

Postby Lee Sayers on Thu Feb 05, 2009 8:41 pm

your too kind.

Hows the numbers looking for the team cross, ideally the teams would be made up in 4s as you only need one DNF to ruin your chances (3 must finish)

Last post from Phil Webb it was up to 6 in total, is that still the case?

Hi all.

Hope your all ready for Sundays bash. I think its going to be quite boggy going by the amount of rain we have had. Mad as it sounds iv enjoyed the frozen races we have had. Lee is right we will have only two teams of three.
My bike seems to be in good shape thanks to Nick and the lads at Senacre and my knee is holding up now. I would like to race with Phil and Lee but i think i would hold them up, so i will let Sarah and Ian fight over that place.
looking forward to Sundays race then its muddy bike away and TT bike out.
Regards
James.

Today's team cross event

Postby phillip webb on Sun Feb 15, 2009 7:13 pm

I just wanted to congratulate everybody who raced today. I think we all had luck on our side today as we didn't suffer any punchers or mechanicals. It's always a good sign when your race number is your lucky number in my case number 7. Even after nature thought all that snow and rain at us during the week it wasn't that muddy. One competitor who wasn't so lucky crashed and has a suspected broken collar bone. Today we formed two teams (Me, Iann and James)(Bill, Sarah and Lee). I wise lee well as he was a little under the weather today  but it didn't seem to slow him down to much. This was a great venue, nice tea bar and easy to find. I would definitely race there again. :D

yes well done everybody and thank you for another great cross season. I think we rounded the season off nicely with all of us crossing the line. i agree with Phill, a good testing course although i started to feel really bad half way in.

Enjoy the off season and good luck with all your TTs and road races everyone. and i lookforward to seeing you on the start line in the Autumn.

Good race everyone, especially Phil, who was flying, and Lee who shook off his cold and rode very strongly and consistently especially in the second half when James and I were dying! Interesting technical course as well - impressive as it was based at a school. Pics are up on the London Cycle Sport website, but only provisional results at the moment. I will hold my report to the paper over until next week for when we have full results and placings.

Bad luck to the bloke with the broken collar bone, I certainly know how that feels. I am hoping that I will not start the next CX season in a sling, and will come off the TT season with a bit of fitness to carry over!

Well done everybody in our teams! Did you manage to get a photo of the whole squad like last year for the mag? I have to be careful re using shots from websites. Many thanks for livening up the mag yet again in the winter season.

great ride

Phil Webb was top draw yesterday at the team cyclo cross championships.

By my reckoning thats the two Phils that are going to be up there this season, i look forward to seeing them both continue to have some great results.
