Anyone else planning to do any of these?

Invicta 100k..........................this Sunday ...from Meopham.
Chelmer 200k.......................20th Sept......from Chelmsford
Autumn Dungeewow 203k...5th October...from Hailsham
Golden Tints 202k.................11th October..from Henham (near Stansfield airport)
Mid-Sussex Hilly 110k...........18th October...from Chailey.

A good selection of fairly local rides to round off the season

I'm up for the Autumn Dungeewow, the only Sunday ride. It'll be good to see El Supremo again as I haven't caught up with him in person this year. Giz a tow, Ron! :D

Did the first one on the list today. After leaving Meopham and going down Vigo Hill it was a tour of our own clubrun lanes as far as Goudhurst. That didn't make the hills any easier though.

An unusually easy return to Meopham - fom Hollingbourne-Pilgrims Way-Boxley-Cycle Route 17-Burham-M2 bridge and Cuxton. Much less severe than the usual Holly or Vigo hills. Trouble is I still went up Vigo riding to the start.

With all the grit on the lanes the trike probably wasn't the most sensible choice (but when is it?) but I got round puncture free.

Time flies. Did the last one on the list today, the Mid Sussex Hilly 110k. Pat Cherry did the Hillier 110k - climbs 1800m for 1 AAA point. I only got ½ point for 1600m.

Both rides started at the same time and when I got back Pat had finished, had something to eat and was loading the bike into the car.

Perfect autumn day, trees in full colour and great views from the top of the hills (once the red mist had cleared).

Audax riders

Ron,
I read about all your Audax exploits & marvel at some of them. I would like to see what Pat Cherry looks like plus any of our other hard men. How about a few photos for the mag.

Great Balls of Fire John,

You really are following my every word! I shall have to be very careful what I say on this forum in future - re-reading my earlier post I realise I could have put it better. I don't want to lose my job as Mag Editor!!!

The Audax Thang Thong or Thing

Postby PatsyHill on Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:11 am

Wherever they wear it I would LOVE a few photos of it being worn (or even with Sudocream being rubbed in) by the Audax Brigade! Best poser -oops sorry - these men are no posers - could end up on the front cover & be GOH at the next Ladies Night!! Thanks for the websites Andy - & Ron, would you be able to select the best full frontal shots of yourself, Andy, Dave, Colin & Pat & send them to me so I can open them in my Picture Manager programmes as usual & adjust them for size.?

Pat

PS- Thinks!!! What can Bosley make out of those innocent statements?

More thinks! How to get my own back on him at the KCA Lunch!!! Have to have a word with Kate & Sarah re any funny habits he's got for a cross -toast.

that was just me doing a silly 'Southern States' accent, though it has been known for a certain Pompey rider, a regular in the yacf parish, to pose with a yellow thong on his head. I think his wife was equally bemused!

That bit of information could make Pat go back to her first choice of words

Quite ... and (only because somebody has to!) would the 'best full frontal' shots need to be with or without helmets?

Ok, I guess I'd better say it before someone else does ... I'm still living it down!

When we went on our excellent jaunt across to France a few months back. I paid a visit to the toilet. There was an outstanding display of helmets placed on the sinks, unfortunately I made the mistake of telling everyone; "There are some very nice helmets just waiting to be grabbed in the gents" ... need I say more.

Perhaps this will bring this discussion to an end!?

(Hopefully!)
