This started yesterday, 1400k to be covered in less than 4.8days. Richard Berry is flying the Fairy flag. A general update is here
http://www.danialwebb.com/lel.html

and after the list of non starters is a list of riders who have had to pack. Fingers crossed that we don't see Richard's name there.

Well the weather was pretty bad but .....done !

Finished at approx 21:45 last night - about 7 hours within time. I'll submit a ride report for The Milestone in the next couple of days.

Several enquiries about and best wishes to Andy Uttley along the way.

In addition although I wasn't riding with them I saw local Audaxers Rob Bullyment, Richard Thomas, and Chris Tracey at most of the controls.

Also bumped into Gary MacGowan at Dalkeith. He was one of the three Dulwich Paragon riders on the Fairies 300 recently and was very complimentary about the Fairies event.

There were other similar comments from people I met along the way and also a special mention of Tim Feneron's skill at making bacon butties.

Good to know that the club is so well known and respected although I have to say that my club shirts were looking very dishevelled after the second day.

Richard, many congratulations on finishing.

the weather was pretty bad

I've been following the yacf forum postings and this is a masterpiece of understatement.

"Having to pedal hard to get downhill", "road flooded to bottom bracket height", "had to stop riders leaving the control during the worst of the weather" were just some of the comments.

What with this and the Brian Chapman 600k you have literally had 2 baptisms in your first year. Your character must be well built up!

Well done Richard, I'm glad you completed it. It sounded as you were really looking forward to it, when we were chatting about it on the Fairies 300k
