Linking to the club website

Postby Rob T on Sun Oct 04, 2009 4:02 pm

Would it be possible to include a link from the forum to the club website in a prominent place?

I ask as there are several links in the bar at the top that take me back to the main page of the forum.

I have created a link in the index section of the AOB forum. Let me know if this fits the bill...

On the last forum, if you clicked the SFACC banner at the top of the forum you went back to the homepage, if this is not possible, can the link in AOB take you there, in the same window, rather than opening up another window to take you back there.

Unfortunately we only have control over certain parameters of the forum.

With the upgrade to forum version 3 that happened a couple of weeks back (we had no choice in the matter) we lost the ability to change the link assigned to the logo. This means that we now have to go with their embeded action which is to take you back to the home page of this forum.

Whats more the editable text that appears to the right of the logo (San fairy ann cycle club) whilst it can be changed won't let me hack-it to include any special HTML to enable a link there  Again we could do this on the old version 2 forum.

I created the link last night that takes us back to the cylce club web site. And unfortunately again we have no control over how the link is implemented which is why it automatically starts a new browser or a new tab rather than using the existing one. :x We could create a simple forum with the link in but as new posts arrive over time trying to find this old post may be difficult.

With version 3 we do have the ability to create a Static Web page that sits in front of the forum. From here it looks like you may be able to customise and create links etc. I'll explore this idea.

Whilst I'm a firm believer in "change" and "progress" I'm still finding it difficult to fully appreciate this new version of forum.

Still, its Free. Ultimately if we want to be in full control of this forum it will involve investment from the club.
