GHS National Final

Well where to start  quite a long journey up there but well worth it id say :D I arrived in Alcester at around 12 and was welcomed by a shining sun. Was amazed how many people there were :o went and and signed on and decided to do a tour of the course to find a beautiful surface pretty much all round the course. As the start times approcahed it began to get hotter and was in the 20's and just managed to get a little bit of suntanning in whilst i ate my salad for lunch :P. Finally the start time was here and ive never been so nervous, also the push off was a really nice bloke along with the time keeper who checked over my bike and decided that i won the best looking bike competition for the day  which made me smile :D The first 5 miles were really fast especially just out of the start hitting at least 35. We all encountered a slight headwind on the way back along with some long drags one in particular before steve berry was practising his camera skills with his phone taking some great pictures (thanks steve :D ). The finish was also a long drag where you just gave it everything as everyone was watching along with Dad and the bosleys and my friend steph giving me a good yell of encouragement. Towards the lind i gave it one last final push with a big yell just to make sure you get over that line :D So all in all great day and really happy how i compare to some of the top riders in the country by finishing 26 overall and 17 out of 32 riders in the 16 years category :D . Just like to give a big big thankyou to Sarah and Ian Sutton for taking me out and getting me back into my TT gears, the boys from kent cycles for checking and looking after my bike and also wheel loan, to Steve Berry for all the support for popping in to watch and also the support from the Bosleys and forgot to say well done to Sarah she has to keep it up now because shes doing so well just remeber nothing comes easy :D Oh and almost forgot, thanks to John Bosley for all his very nice words of encouragement and support thankfully i didnt fluff it like he said  See you on the 50 John :D

Well; done Michael & Sarah!!
Have just got in from doing the board for the VTTA & still reeling with the time Michael has posted - a 2.8.? (board still in car) after his last effort of 2.24! I was having a job hearin the time over my phone as the finish was so noisy as was the GQ & I made the chap on the other end repeat it twice!!

Off to take a valium after a lot of panic at 8am with a ploughing match a few yards up the finish lane bringing about a mad dash to sort out a mid-event change of finish with Paul Mepham.Im getting too old for all this. But its worth it to be around when you all do so well!! 3rd fastest Lady ( I extracted 3 extra medals from our Treasurer ) for Sarah. Bernadette & Kate also did good rides Ian will tell all later I'm sure.

What's all this? You go away for a couple of weeks and behind your back you get your Gooleys attacked (and that's anatomically not as easy as you may think!).

Anyway I've taken this destructive criticism on the chin and from now on will restrict myself to a maximum of 1 post in any day. I should point out that this is a voluntary gesture and one that I undertake without pressure from any 3rd party (had rather two much wine on holiday and can't actually remember the first two),

It's all part of the Psyching up strategy! Ok so it helped most on the 50 today when you passed me about 10 miles soon than expected!

John, as you joined the forum in Jan 2008 by my reckoning your quota on 1 post per day is 617 posts. As you have only posted 360 you have 257 'in the bank'.

If that argument doesn't win out at least we can have fun goading you, especially after your 1 post of the day.

You keep 'em coming John! I promise to forget all about your anatomical details (If you will forget about mine!) & by the way, I forgot to congratulate Kate yesterday in the HQ on her first 50. It was another day to savour with all the Fairies around me - & my thanks to Dave S for coming to my rescue at the end when my little grey cells had almost had it with the last few Age Standards to work out. I can see he's destined for greater things & will be a great asset to us as our next Open 25 promoter.

I agree with other comments here like the ones that say well done to Michael and Sarah.

I did notice on the Result sheet a rider by the name of Hannah Barnes next to you Michael

So is she related ??????
I personally recommend the use of an approved cycle helmet when riding ones bike

It has taken me a couple of months to identify what the Booley's got upto on holiday in France and why the forum was so quiet, but due to Cycling Weekly, I do believe I have found the answer... Ladies and Gentlemen, I present my evidence before you...

Colin's a bit like this. You'll be chatting away to him about how close you came to beating your latest PB and he's likely to say something about free range chickens and the price of organic eggs!

Some people have asked if it's really me! I'm not sure I know anymore! I watched Le TdF on TV - don't remember being there. I've looked very closely at the picture and have checked my underwear drawer - I don't have a G-string in black so it can't be me!
