Crash at detling last night

Many thanks to all who helped, especially Dick Naylor who took me to A&E and Roly who gave him a lift back.

I've just got back from a follow-up appointment at the facial reconstruction specialist unit in East Grinstead and have now been stitched up.

Ooh, man! Sounds nasty  What happened? Hope it wasn't on one of those lovely gravelly patches  Hope you get well soon mate
The car in front is a Toyota. The car behind is inevitably some git in a BMW doing their best to knock you off your bike...

Oh dear Rob, not very pleasant! Hope your injuries are not too bad and they get better soon.

The guy from Seancre cycles told me what happened!

Thanks for the messages all!

I'm now taking in liquids through a straw, I can barely open my mouth to eat (so I'm on stuff I can fit through a small gap, fortunately chips fall into this category) and my right lower arm has only got about 20º of movement.

On the plus side; less food equals weight loss!

Oh dear Rob! I hope you are feeling a bit better. What happened? Touch a wheel? Get well soon.

Someone ahead of me in the paceline went down. I hit something and my front wheel stopped dead then I went over the bars and landed face first on the tarmac.

Yup, wearing a helmet, which got destroyed. It wasn't crushed, it just got pulled apart due to the friction of sliding along the ground.

Interestingly, the only damage to the bike is that both wheels are out of true and the rear of my saddle is scratched. The bar tape and levers were left untouched!
