Congratulations where they are due

Postby Phill on Sat Oct 10, 2009 5:00 pm

Congratulations to Dave Stocker. All that early season training on Harrietsham and even Wales paid dividends to Dave who successfully scored his puncture hat-trick today. Well done Dave. :D

Congrats also to Simon and Marcus who also scored great double punctures. Notable appreciation to Simon also for scoring his first puncture today after a 15 minute wait for Ian and Ben to fix their punctures. Just as we started away from Ben and Ian's puncture stop Simon could be heard shouting "Oh Fudge" (at least I think thats what he said).

Simon's second puncture was literally 1/2 mile after his first while Marcus managed to sneak in a 2nd puncture whilst we were taking time out to fix Dave S. 3rd puncture.

The last of our Dacathlon of punctures goes to Neil C. who waited until just leaving the cafe stop. I suspect it was the chicken that Ian poked up the Arse taking revenge.

Special thanks to Joe G. for rolling up all 10 flat tubes but unfortunately Joe (like yours truly) failed to score any punctures today.

Also special Paris Hilton BFMWP award ( "Best Friend Male With Pump") who carried a track pump for the whole journey and could be seen pumping squirrels all the way from Marden to Cantebury and back.

I managed to survive the ride puncture free also but god knows how,I guess its those bullit proof Conti GP4000 all seasons that saved me from that `hissing curse that was so often heard today` :)

But good ride though, and surprised at the amount of miles clocked, after all our problems, also spare a thought for Ben, who got stung in the face by a wasp!...very eventfull day! oh yes and that chicken who tryed to pluck the hairs from my legs, now I know why I need to get those pins of mine shaven! :)
same chicken also attacked Joe, falsing him to through cake at the wretched bird to keep it away! lol
I train hard to cycle fast!

You lot should have been at the Off Road Champs we had over 20 puncture beat that
I personally recommend the use of an approved cycle helmet when riding ones bike

Yes, I was a bit dissapointed with our performances yesterday Phil. Ah well, there's always next week. I just wanted to feel like I had a puncture, so I had to do something; rolling them up was as close as I got

It will take many moons of practice before we can hope to surpass your incredible efforts, Dave.
The car in front is a Toyota. The car behind is inevitably some git in a BMW doing their best to knock you off your bike...

As far as I know the club record is 9 punctures in one clubrun, a Sunday run many years ago. This could easily be beaten if a 20+ clubrun chooses a suitable lane............

My personal record is 3 - all 3 trike wheels - in a 2 mile off road section of a Sunday clubrun with Bob Shilling.

That was an epic adventure -home at 3.40pm!! thanks Joe for the tow back and the good day out, funny how we can laugh about it later.
Thanks also to Ians track pump a real help on a day like that.
I think we have all forgotten Phills' time has been and gone-he had the most savage puncture( last A ride )i've seen doing nearly 40 mph down Vigo hill before his bare rim slid him off into the ditch in front of a very surprised car :o   .
But he jumped back on as if it happened on a regular basis. Just needs some new handlbars i believe.
