Bedgebury 13/06/09 (race 2 of 4) Won by Phil Webb

:D Today say the second of a series of mtb races held at Bedgebury forest hosted by Bedgebury CC. Some of the competitors included me, Bill Edwards, Lee Sayer, Henry Sayers and Natalie Bent. Let me tell you it was harder than the first race a couple of weeks back. Partially due to the heat but noticeably due to the uphill wooded nature of the course. The race was one hour approx 13 miles with quite a few tree routes to keep you on your toes. From the start I was determined to take the lead and didn’t want to get stuck behind anybody when entering the single track. I achieved this and opened a small lead quickly. For the next couple of laps I opened up the gap further. I maintained the lead through out the race and took the chequered flag. The others all finished well with Natalie coming home as the fastest Lady. I would like to thank everybody for there help, support and praise today so thanks Phil. :D Full result to follow including photos

Really enjoyed today, top ride Phil, i did not see you after the first down hill section where i was 3rd before over doing a bend at the bottom and having to carve a new line through the brambles losing 4 places.

Course today was run the opposite way (clockwise) with wetter ground providing quite a few spills. The punishing climb all the way back to the top through the single track was a real test especially when you started to tire and make silly mistakes.

Had a good battle with guy in the Giant kit, he got me in the end when i went over the bars whilst laying it down on a fast corner and had to straighten my steering and put the chain back on.

I was told you looked your usual smooth fluid self and a really great result for you and the club. Enjoy your winnings and the glory.

Need to see the full results before we can get you a full report Pat.

Henry did ok in a strong field, their course was more technical than usual (much better) and unfortunately he had not riden it before hand. Finished about 6th from 10.

Bill Edwards and Natalie also rode.

Good lad Lee. Thinking of your old Ed. I will await your report delivered to me by email attachment all ready for the mag but I have been told what a good ride Phil did by several people.

I also heard about Natalie so well done to her also. Photos?
