Hills in Kent ??

You show him Ben

Vigo Hills a nice one so is Barn Hill If you can take Your mate over to Hollingbourne He will be convinced.

Simon Olley Once led a club run up the infamous "Yorks Hill" Home of the catford hill climb.
I personally recommend the use of an approved cycle helmet when riding ones bike

Barn hill just isn't that bad! Hunton hill on the other hand is the most painful hill I know of!

Then you can't have been up Westerhill Rob which is the next one over from Hunton and probably the steepest on the Greensand Ridge.

Tony - I've done hills that are far nastier than Hunton hill on paper (one in particular in Bath that's about 20-25%!), but I just don't fear them. I still have 'The Fear' of Hunton hill from back when I started riding.

I know what you mean Rob, I dread going up it each week on the return from a club run but its the shortest 'country' route home.

Just wanted to say that the result of discussions and Joes' survey which lead onto the current rota seems an excellent success. It seems quite healthy to have different leaders with their own personal favourite areas and stops.
It is also good to have Joe and Dave Seager out as they have that reserve to push us all that bit harder.
I certainly feel like i have been out on a ride when i crawl home from Marden.
I guess we must all be aware of those on a 'less good' day dropping off the pace so no one gets lost!!
Also I think we need an agreed rule that you can't take part in the sprint UNLESS you have done your share on the front-OK!!!!

Yes, overall, seems to have shaken things up a little bit. I think you and Phil have still done more than the fair share of the work! (For that we are eternally grateful! :D ), and I'd personally like to see a few more of the regulars taking a turn at leading - looking forward to Ben's route this sat by the way 8) - but we've certainly had some nice rides of late, whatever.

And crawling home is definately the word!! Even Dave says he knackered afterwards - and that's saying something!!

As for sprinting only if you've done work on the front, well - of late I've been well impressed at how everyone has taken turns on the front during some nice through-and-off work. But even if you haven't, it just makes the sprint all the more entertaining! (And satisfying if you have been doing a lot of work and still win :P )

I'm quite looking forward to leading my next route... 28th Nov - be there or be square  I might even get to the cafe stop I intended to this time!

For the benefit of Simon Charlesworth, please see my new bike. I am not collecting it until next sunday so the Bianchi will be in service for at least one more club run!!

Nice one Richard.

If Richards performance last weekend is anything to go by, on that noisy, rikety, ghost shifting old worn out Bianchi, (and after a curry on friday night), he'll be unstoppable on this new bike.

Richard
Its not that we don't believe you- its just we don't want you on anything faster!!!!!!!!!!
Still the background suggests you quickly popped into the nearest bike shop and took a photo of the nearest Trek!!!
We will believe you only when it appears and you have the receipt to proveit and that its not borrowed from a friend-OK

Does this mean I'm not allowed to praise it then? Oh well. I had some really nice things to say about it and all. :P

I'm still in the hunt for a new steed. Originally it was gonna be a Cervelo no question about it, but the new Madone is really tempting me a lot...

Let me know what you make of it! 8)

Also, does anyone know if Bewl Water cafe is actually open this time of year on a saturday? :? I tried ringing them but no answer - but then again they never seem to be open weekdays anyway. I was thinking of stopping off there during my clubrun reign of terror on saturday :D
